Description
MSS Fibre 6F OM3 Loose Tube Cable
The MSS Fibre 6F OM3 Loose Tube Cable is designed for fibre optic network installations that require dependable cable construction for underground and outdoor applications. Featuring six OM3 multimode fibre cores, this loose tube cable is suitable for compatible network infrastructure where water protection, mechanical strength and resistance to environmental exposure are important considerations.
The cable uses gel-filled loose tubes to house the optical fibres, with a dry-block core incorporating water-blocking tape and swellable yarns. This combination helps restrict water ingress through the cable structure, supporting its use in direct burial and conduit or duct installations when installed according to project requirements.
Termite-Resistant Nylon Jacket and PE Sheath
The cable features a black, UV-resistant polyethylene (PE) inner sheath and a blue outer polyamide nylon jacket designed to resist UV exposure and insect or termite damage. This dual-sheath construction provides an additional layer of protection for outdoor cable installations where environmental exposure is a concern.
The thixotropic gel within the loose tubes helps prevent water ingress into the fibre-containing tubes, while water-swellable materials provide additional protection within the cable core. Polyester-based rip cords are included to assist with sheath removal during cable preparation and installation. These features make the cable a practical option for infrastructure projects requiring outdoor-rated fibre cabling with protection against moisture and environmental exposure.
Non-Metallic Strength for Underground Networks
A central glass fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) strength member provides tensile strength without using a metallic reinforcement element. This non-metallic construction can be advantageous for fibre infrastructure where a metal-free cable design is preferred.
With six OM3 multimode fibres, the cable supports compatible multimode network links across commercial, industrial and telecommunications installations. Its blue nylon jacket also helps identify the cable during installation and maintenance. The cable is non-armoured and does not include a sacrificial sheath. Assess the installation route, burial conditions and required mechanical protection before selecting it for a particular project.
